Privacy & cookie policy

We've tried to write this privacy policy in plain English. If anything is unclear, or if you have any questions, please drop as a line at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We really care about protecting your privacy when you use our website, so if you have any suggestions how we can improve this policy, please let us know.

What we collect from guests (non-logged in users)

If you visit this site without logging in we will not collect any identifiable data from you - unless you give it to us, say, by sending us a message. However:

What we collect when you send us data

If you send us data, such as through registering, leaving a comment, sending a message or making a purchase we will record and store all data around that so we can process it. This will be stored indefinitely on our servers, and maybe transfered to employee's machines for processing, but will be kept private and confidential at all times.

How we use cookies

When you visit our site, out content system sets a 'session cookie' as you move around which should be deleted when you leave the site. This has no functional use to us - and we take no information from it - but it helps the content person move you from one page to the next.

When you register or log in, we set a cookie to identify you, and if you ask us to 'remember you' this will be stored for the next time you visit the site.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse anonymous data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to user's needs.

You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline them, although this might stop the site from working fully. A good compromise is to set your browser to delete cookies on closing the browser.

What we collect when you are logged in

Once logged in, we may track your use of the site, such as number and nature of downloads, bookmarked pages, comments and so forth. This is to help us with the running of the site.

What we do with your data

We will NEVER share your private data with anyone else, other than in anonymised form (such as writing a report about the number of sales we have had or collating statistics).

We do not store any payment information about you, this is held privately by our payment provider.

Our servers have been previously hosted in the UK and are currently hosted in California, United States, meaning they currently come under US law.

As far as we are aware, this does not allow any other party (such as the NSA or GCHQ) to access your data without asking us first, but unfortunately there is no guarantee of this - it is quite beyond our control. If this troubles you, check out the campaigns from stopwatching.us, the EFF and the Open Rights Group.

To date, we have never been asked to provide information on anyone.

We do our best to keep your data secure while it is stored with us using the best security practices we can. However no website is ever completely safe from hacking - if this happens and your personal data has been compromised we will try and notify you. A reminder - we do not store any payment information, and your password is encrypted in a way to make it almost impossible to use elsewhere, even if there was a hack.

Deleting your data & unsubscribing

You can unsubscribe from receiving mailings by us using the links that appear at the bottom of emails. This will mean we will not send any further emails. However your details will still be stored within our system.

If at any time you would like us to delete your account and any data we have on you, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will.

In the event we were sold

We do not expect or plan to sell this business. But if we did, the new owner would need to honour this privacy policy, notify you about any changes to it and offer you the same chance to delete your data. While they would be the new controller of  data, they would not have the right to change any privacy agreement between FundYourFilm.com and its users without your permission.
